TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048. Medicare part D was established to help seniors pay for their RX costs by having a plan. The standard Medicare part D plan included the following benefit level. In 2007 for a national average price of around $27 you could have a plan with a $265 deductible after which the plan would pay 75% of the drugs while the individual payed 25% of their RX cost untill the company and individual together had payed $2400 toward RX's. At this point the individual hits a donut hole where the individual is responsible for 100% of the RX cost, untill the individual has payed $3850 out of pocket. Once the individual has hit the $3850 out of pocket maximum the individual hits catastrophic coverage where their plan pays approximately 95% of RX costs.
