What is the Healthly Kids Program
When children and teens have health coverage, they are able to get the health care they need when they need it. That means they are less likely to miss school or end up seeking lower quality yet higher cost care in the emergency room. It also means their families don’t have to choose between paying the rent or paying for needed prescriptions.
Healthy Kids mean a healthier Oregon. Oregon Healthy Kids is dedicated to making sure every child and teen in the state has access to health insurance their families can afford.
Healthy Kids offers free or low-cost coverage to all uninsured Oregon kids and teens up to 19 years of
age. No child will be put on a waiting list or be turned down due to pre-existing conditions. Healthy Kids coverage lasts for one full year and includes all the care kids need, including regular checkups,
prescriptions, dental, vision, mental and behavioral health care.

Who’s Eligible?
Eligibility is based on age, residency and income. The child must be under the age of 19, live in Oregon
and be a legal resident. Family income will determine whether the child qualifies for the free or low-cost
option.
We have options for families at every income level; even middle-income families can qualify. For
example, a family of four earning as much as $66,000 annually may still qualify for the low-cost option.
What does it Cost?
There are 3 options for Healthy Kids coverage based on family income; no-cost, low-cost and full-cost.
· No-cost: For families who fall into the no-cost option, coverage is free.
· Low-cost: For families who fall into the low-cost option, they pay a subsidized
premium for the coverage; for example, a family with four children pays an average of $50 a month total to provide coverage for
their kids.
· Full-cost: For families who earn more than 300 percent of the federal poverty level, they can receive
coverage by buying into the program at full cost. No child can be put on a waiting list or be turned away
due to pre-existing conditions.
